Scott Hoagland enters his third season at the helm of the Virginia Intermont Cobra basketball program. Hoagland is a 2001 graduate of Radford University in Radford, VA, where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in English. Prior to his stint at VI, Hoagland spent six years at Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, VA where he coached under future Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame coach Steve Smith, taught English, and was the school's Director of College Counseling. He also served two seasons at Fort Chiswell High School in Max Meadows, VA, and served as Student-Assistant at the University of Virginia's College at Wise.

A native of Lynchburg, VA, coach Hoagland is best described as an intense and demanding coach who gets the best from his players. He is working on his Master's Degree in Secondary Education from Old Dominion University.

Coach Hoagland is married to the former Susan Tolbert of Dublin, VA. The Hoagland's have two children, Aiden Drew, 4 years old and Anna Beth, two weeks old.
