Robert Ssejjemba - Head Coach - 3rd Season
Robert Ssejjemba was born in Kampala, Uganda. He Played for his native country at Youth and Senior National teams.
"My biggest dream was playing in the 2006 world cup qualifying campaign and playing against some of my soccer heroes. I came to the United states to attend college. I attended VI on a soccer scholarship from 2000- 2004 helping the Cobras win 2 Regular season, 2 Conference and 2 regional tittles and also making two appearances at the NAIA National Tournament in 2000 and 2003." Stated Ssejjemba.
Selected as All American athlete in 2003, Ssejjemba holds the goal scoring record at VI with 75 goals in four seasons." Robert also received his Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Virginia Intermont College.
After college, Ssejjemba signed a professional soccer contract with the Richmond Kickers in the USPRO League, from 2005-2007. At Richmond, he helped the club reach the 2005 and 2007 championship games. He helped the team win the 2006 championship and was also named League MVP, scoring champion and goal scoring champion. In 2006, Richmond sent Robert to DC United of Major League Soccer where he played till the end of the 2006 season. In 2008, he transferred to the Charlotte Eagles in Charlotte, North Carolina and helped Charlotte to the Championship game only losing in the finals to Cleveland City.
While at Charlotte, a torn the ACL injury led to end his playing career and the start of his coaching career. Ssejjemba resurrected the soccer program here at VI in 2009 after the school dropped it in 2007 and 2008.
He is a member of Highlands Fellowship Church. Robert and his wife, Katie, serve in
the children's ministry. His favorite verse is John 3:30.
They have three children, Teddy, Isaiah and Mercy.
