The Virginia Intermont College Men's Basketball Team showed a great deal of moxy and grit in a tough road game against AAC foe TN Wesleyan. The Cobras entered the contest having lost each of their first five games by more than 20 points. Although the score did not turn out the way the Cobras wanted, they battled the entire 40 minutes and gave themselves a chance to win the game in the closing seconds.
The Cobras were led in scoring by Junior Wade Bryant. Bryant scored inside, he scored outside and tallied 28 points and 7 rebounds. Sophomore sharp shooter Ben Mulkey matched his career high with 19 points. Junior Marquette Knight posted a double double with 15 points and 14 rebounds.
To say the least, it appears the Cobras may be beginning to gel. According to Coach Hoagland, "We had a rough night against Bluefield. We were mentally rattled early. We never got comfortable and we lost our composure. Tonight we battled every possession and answered every run. With a team as young as ours we have to walk before we run. We competed tonight. Next time out we gotta close the deal.
TN Wesleyan was led in scoring by Jesse Booher with 25 points.
The Cobras play on Tuesday night in Lynchburg, VA against NCAA Division III foe Randolph College.
