BRISTOL, Va. - The Virginia Intermont College (VI) baseball team added another piece to their infield this afternoon with the signing of Cameron Brookwell out of Hargrave Military Academy (HMA) in Chatham, Va.
"Cameron is a tremendous athlete, and we're very excited to have him on board," said Head Coach Jeremy Christian. "His speed and arm strength are a huge asset to our club, and his athleticism makes him extremely versatile. He's a solid middle infielder and could potentially see time in the outfield as well."
The 6-foot 170-pound Brookwell was a two sport athlete that played baseball and soccer at HMA while also earning a place on the Dean's and President's lists.
"Offensively, Cameron can hit at the top or the bottom of the order," said Christian. "He handles the bat well and really stays inside the baseball. His swing is short and compact with very little movement; something you don't see often in true freshmen. Cameron will just continue to get better over the next four years and we look forward to watching him produce."
Brookwell is the son of Denny and Lynda Brookwell and will major in business at VI.
