The Lady Cobras softball team swept the Lady Wasps of Emory & Henry College today with scores of 17-1 and 12-2. The games were originally scheduled to be played at E & H but due to the weather they were moved to Highland View Field.
Game #1: VI banged out 18 hits in route to a 17-1 win. The Cobras were led by freshman Rachel Cook (Lebanon High School). Rachel was 4 for 5 with 3 RBI, 2 doubles and a solo homerun.Senior, Kayla Mitchell (Abingdon High School) and junior, Kristen Dyer, (Cherokee High School) both were 3 for 4 with 3 RBI's. Soph.,Brittany Lewis (Fluvana High School) and junior Melissa Hudgins (Mathews High School) both went 2 for 4. Kristen got the job done in the circle with10 strike outs and only 2 walks.Emory produced 4 hits and Sierra Waters claimed the loss.
Game #2: Once again the Lady Cobras came to the ballfield today ready to hit producing 15 hits. Freshman, Samantha Belcher (Knox Halls High School) hit 2 homeruns, the first one was a three run homer and the second one was a two run homerun. For this game she was 4-5 with 5 RBI's and for the day she was 4-8 with 6 RBI's. Soph, Kelli Porter (Kellum High School) was 3-4 with 3 RBI's and junior, Melissa Hudgins was 2-3, her total for the day was 4-7 with 3 RBI's. Freshman, Bailee Packet (Wash. & Lee High School) received the win for the Lady Cobras producing 9 strike outs and 1 walk.
E & H had 5 hits, Sierra Waters was 2-2. Rebecca Thomas took the loss for the Lady Wasps.
The Cobras are now 2-2 and will be back in action at Highland View Field, Saturday, Feb. 27th hosting Brevard College with the first pitch set for 1 p.m.
