Virginia Intermont baseball traveled to Franklin Springs, GA to face NAIA opponent Emmanuel College.
Despite temperatures in the low forties Virginia Intermont wins game one 15-12. The Cobras pounded out 17 hits and committed a single error.
Freshman, Central High School graduate, Cody Hyden provided 2 hits with 5 at bats and 3 RBIs. Junior Jesse Morrison added 2 hits with 5 at bats and Freshman, Mickey Tichenor led the team by going 3-5, 3 RBI's and 1 homerun. On the mound, Sophomore, Virginia High School graduate, Robbie Stout earned the win while Junior, Corey Prescott was credited with the save. Virginia Intermont led all nine innings of the game while Emmanuel College had 12 hits and 3 errors.
 
In the second game of the day,while continuing to play in 40 degree weather and sleet pounding them in the face, The Cobras won 5-4.
VI had 9 hits and commited 1 error with Junior, Ed Clark leading the team with 2 hits and 3 at bats. Sophomore, Rudy Staton, earned the win and Senior, Brent Mullins earned the save. Emmanuel College also had 9 hits and committed 1 error.
 
The Virginia Intermont Cobras will be back on the road Tuesday, Feb. 9th to face Tennessee Temple.
