BRISTOL, VA - The Cobras got back to winning against Union tonight in the Cobra Den as they defeated the Bulldogs after a strong first half and nearly gave it away in the second, 85-80.
Justin Morris led the Cobras in scoring with 26 points and Jimmie Ross was equally as effective with 19 with a couple of flashy dunks for the Cobra Crazies. Ross also led in rebounds with eight, Thomas Hawkins also tied for rebound with eight. Joshua Hart was a force on defense for the Cobras as the junior out of Edgewood, MD accumulated seven blocks and scored 17 points. Tihlee Anderson led in assists with 4.
VI took an 11 point lead into halftime and built a sizable margin throughout the second half. But with under a minute remaining the Bulldogs pulled to within two points of the Cobras until two free throws by Justin Morris sealed the win for VI.
VI will hit the road this Wednesday to take on conference leader Tennessee Wesleyan, tipoff is at 7:30 PM. VI fell to the Bulldogs on January 11th 67-88 in a game played at Virginia High School. VI is now 12-13 on the season and 4-8 in the AAC.
